On May 23, 1998, after months of planning and preparation, Matt H. of Troop 1970, carried out his planned Eagle Project. The first two pictures are from the first half of his two-week project. The second phase of Matt's Eagle Project was revisiting all of the homes where we distributed the flyer and bag. The second phase took place on Saturday, May 30, 1998. Matt Harper's Eagle Court of Honor took place at the International Country Club in Fairfax, Virginia, on Sunday, October 17, 1999. Troop 1970 scouts and scouters attended as well as Counselors from Goshen Scout Camps where Matt worked for two summers as a counselor. Many additional special guests, friends, and relatives attended. Click on image to make it larger.

We filled up this office at the Embry Rucker Shelter. It took one pickup truck, one mini-van, and two Ford Ranger vehicles to carry the 2000 lbs of goods. I'm outside looking in! |

Forty-seven people signed the log book. More than ten vehicles were used to drive all around Reston to deliver the bags. The filled bags were collected a week later. With 2,000 lbs of goods donated, our cup runneth over! Great job for Troop 1970 and Matt! Matt's Court of Honor on October 17, 1999, was a grand ceremony for an impressive scout. Matt worked hard and performed cheerful service on his trail to Eagle. Congratulations, Matt!
