Troop 1970 Volunteers on Inaguration Day, Jan. 20, 2005

The inauguration volunteer experience went well and was a really interesting opportunity for the Scouts (and Scouters!). Troop 1970 volunteers did their assigned job ... and then some, by going on a snow-shoveling tour cleaning off bleachers.   Click on image to make it larger.

Troop 1970 scouts and scouters took turns exploring some of the parade route outside of their sector. One of our scouters took 4 Scouts down to 3rd and Constitution to a pretty good vantage point to catch President Bush's speech. Along the way, they passed the full spectrum of political viewpoints. Our Troop 1970 volunteers had a VP staff party in their assigned area -- they gathered during the day at the Ten Penh restaurant (at 10th and Penn, get it?) and had a section of our bleachers reserved for them. What a great experience! Credits for the photos go to Marty Gurtz and Justin F.
