Scouts participating on this outing met at the church parking lot at
7:00 am. They staged their equipment, and met to talk about the adventure
ahead. |
One activity that takes place whatever the outing, is the forming of
Patrol lines to make sure everyone is present or accounted for, to make
sure all scouts are assigned to a vehicle, and to pass on other important
information. |

The adult drivers meet to review travel plans, maps, routes, and staging

The scouts and scouters work together to make sure all of the equipment

Flow stone is formed by mineral rich water dripping down the side of
a wall depositing minerals on the wall surface. The flash of the camera
brings out many colors not seen by the illumination by incadescent lights
on our helmets. |
The large stalagmite shown in this photo is known as the "Haystack."
Stalagmites are formed by water, with minerals dissolved in it, seeping
through the ceiling. The mineral rich water drips from the ceiling and the
mineral deposit grows on the floor. It took several thousand years of dripping
to form. |
